At the very start of this month, we enter into the holy season of Lent and, for us, the theme of “Finding Our Path.”  We remember that Jesus’ wilderness journey wasn’t just aimless wandering – he was there to do something.  He was there to explore what path he would take in his earthly ministry.  Tempted by all kinds of possibilities, he chose the path he believed was most faithful.  He didn’t just want the one that would get him to the “right” destination, but the one that started and moved in the “right” way, too – one that began, traveled, and ended with God at the center of the journey, always.

As we remember Jesus’ time in the wilderness through our own work in Lent, we’re invited to look deeply at some of these same questions in our lives.  What are the things in your life that tempt you to put them at a greater priority than God?  How does Christ show up on your every-day path?  How do you sense God’s guidance in your life?  What do you need to do to keep God at the center of your journey?

As we explore these kinds of questions together throughout this season, I pray that God will give each of us a good entry into this time of Lent.  What will your first step be, this year?  How will you ask God to help you choose it?

Peace in the Grace of Christ,
